Nextlox congratulates the TU/ecomotive team on the fantastic presentation of their repairable car: ARIA! Designing and building a truly repairable car is incredibly challenging. The goal was to make a car with as many standard parts as possible, which can be repaired safely and quickly by anyone and only with a tool set provided.
The team turned this ambitious plan into a beautifully crafted design and a fully functional concept car. And that in less than a year!
Nextlox was privileged to work closely with the team and see up close how intense the process was. Nextlox founder Olivier Olmer, also father of team captain Taco Olmer, was very involved in the construction. Olivier Olmer: “As a partner, we helped the team with practical skills like welding, drilling, milling and smart simplification of parts.”
And the result?
A brilliant electric car that will hopefully inspire the automotive industry:
✅ 97% less glue than in conventional cars
✅ Through a simple app, users can perform diagnostics and follow step-by-step instructions
✅ Repairs can be done yourself with the tools in the toolbox provided
✅ All parts are quickly and easily accessible
This project has rightly been big in the news in recent days. The TU/e student team shows that mobility can be more sustainable, people-oriented and truly repairable.
We also hope that other companies in the industry will be inspired by this mindset: Designing products that are easier to maintain and repair with longevity as a goal.
As Nextlox, we are incredibly proud to have been able to contribute to this.
P.s. Our smart locker locks are also included in the design!
